In Which I Have Done a Wee Bit of Writing

  • Dec. 12th, 2009 at 7:53 PM
Project the One:
I signed up for [info]house_stocking and have written two ficlets so far. : ) I've also received a very marvelous ficlet, based on my prompt of "Wilson being awesome": here.

Project the Two:
I have not written anything new for my latest secret ficlet, BUT I finished the research that I'd been too embarrassed to do on my work PC.

That may be a hint as to content, or may not.

Project the Three:
No writing and no research for my Big Bang fic : ( but I did work out an awesome detail of the backstory for it. Which led to me imagining an enthusiastic bedroom scene in which the woman turned her boyfriend on by dressing as T'Pau from Star Trek: TOS. Glee!

Little Help from Cooks on my F-list?

  • Dec. 6th, 2009 at 5:11 PM
I have the wee-baby-est of plot bunnies toddling through my head. To start if off, I need the name of a recipe that requires very little work but can seems complicated to non-cooks, so that a cook could hide out in the kitchen without interruption.

ETA: So many good suggestions! I'm going to go with ratatouille, because it's veggie-full and "foreign," and therfore perfect for the character's purposes.

Thanks!

12 & 1/2 hours of sending emails

That was a long-ass, boring day. But I'm going home now, and I will have soup and a refreshing adult beverage and approx. 43 minutes of Wilson, so all is GOOD.

Holy CRAP, Jesse Spencer's gorgeous! Thank you for cutting that hair, BB.

Omar who? RS-who?

Other people say there are old SPOILERS in these vids; I have no idea because I don't have sound on )

Hey, Friends on Twitter

  • Sep. 30th, 2009 at 9:42 PM
Remember way back when, when Greg Yaitanes blocked us all because we were reading his posts? (And because of the fake HL & RSL accounts.) Well, now he's opened up his Twitter again!

Wonder when that happened.

It is important for me to tell you this

  • Aug. 21st, 2009 at 10:28 PM
Very, very important, so listen up:

If I find you talking shit about me, it will probably make me cry a lot. Or laugh. Depending on what you say and whether it's funny and my mood at the time.

Those who have supported me are welcome to read my fics. It counts as supporting me if you have ever enjoyed anything in House fandom, or SGA fandom. Or if you like reading my fics. I do think I have a couple of original fiction pieces on here, too. Oh, no, wait, only one. Anyway, if you like what I write, then AWESOME! Thank you! ♥

As They Might Be Giants said: "I love the world, and if I have to sue for custody, I will sue for custody."

PS. [info]californiaquail and I are no longer on each other's f-list. She broke up with me. I'm not sure why, but it's no doubt for the best. I wish her well, and hope she finds happiness.

PPS. We seem to be having a hugpile in here. COME JOIN IN! :D

"Quickly, bring me a beaker of wine, so that I may wet my mind and say something clever." --Aristophanes

- [info]hannahrorlove gave me two books, A History of the World in Six Glasses and On Bullshit. Thank you, Hannah! Haven't finished the first but I liked the above quote a lot. :D I've finished the second and thought it was marvelous. It helped clarify what makes me angry about certain people, why I have no respect for them at all. Should do a whole post about that.

- Has anyone done an awesomely cheese-tastic post-S5 House/Cuddy fanvid to Hoobastank's "The Reason" yet? The song seems kind of tailor-made for it, particularly if you went the "purposefully badvid" route, like the SGA McShep vid to "Jolene."

I found a reason for meeeeeeeee
To change who I used to beeeeeeeee
A reason to start over newwwwwwww
And the reason is you

ETA: On YouTube, I found five House/Cameron vids to the song, one House/Chase, and one House/Cuddy, but it's from February.

- There was going to be a third bullet point here, but I've forgotten it.

PS. I just thought of the phrase "screaming into an empty sea." Eh? Wouldn't an empty sea be the saddest thing ever?

Stuff on a Monday

- I completed a book without reading every single word in it. And the world did not end! I feel invigorated.

- This weekend we had an out-of-town guest who grew up in California, and she brought the cooler, drier air of her hometown with her. Thank you!!! I'd mention her by name but forgot to ask before she left if that was OK. Because I am duh.

- [info]bironic stole my husband and I liked it. :D

- Realized my first Remix idea would require too much research (as I am more woefully uninformed on a certain topic than I had thought), so I'm on to idea number two.

- Friends want me to vid, but they don't like the songs I've picked. AHAHAHAHA! I have taken this as a sign that they must be tortured with my insanity. :DDD

- [info]daisylily has never not been awesome.

My Icon Lies

Taking a vacation starting tomorrow morning, so I won't be on LJ much. I'll probably be able to sneak online for a few minutes once a day or so, but other than that... have a good week! Keep the place rockin'.

I changed the subtitle of my journal to an Overboard quote: "I can't hear you, Tea Rose! I'm shooting skeet!"

LOLOLOL

Phinnia, your most marvelous quote has been moved to the beginning of my bio.

On another topic, yet another fandom!secret I submitted was a graphics fail and didn't make it into the main post. I am the lamest graphic-eer ever.

So y'all know I'm weird, right? Some weird bullet points:

- We just saw Chicago last night, and I have a huge yen to see RSL in the Roxie Hart role. I think he would throw himself into it and have a grand ol' time. Maybe have the entire cast be opposite gender from their characters? Not with a wink and a nod, "hey we're in drag" mood (although that would be very fun as well) -- but completely serious, as if each actor is inhabiting a person of the opposite gender. Casting suggestions?

- Speaking of Wilson (oh, we weren't? I guess we weren't), Jane Adams, aka Ex-Mrs. Wilson #2, is going to be in a new HBO series called "Hung," about a regular guy who decides to become a male prostitute. LOL.

- Little Miss Thang at work, you best step off, or we are going to throw down! Most authorities on American English recommend the use of the serial comma, Bee-yotch, so you cut one more out of my communications drafts and I'm'a CUT YOU.

When linguistic prescriptivists battle, they battle, AMIRITE?

I feel happily validated in my depiction of House playing Bridezilla in Dyeing Changes Everything by the new Stargate Atlantis fic Hotel Atlantis by [info]siriaeve, in which Rodney McKay is -- wait for it -- a wedding planner. It shouldn't work, but it does.

*smug*

On a totally different subject, once a year, for about two days only, pollen overwhelms me and I get a massive sinus headache. The past two days were when it hit me this year, and this morning as Mr. L was talking to me about it, I had a huge bout of empathy for House.

Not because of the pain )

Unrelated Things

I've realized (belatedly, no doubt) that this is a transition time for my relationship with House fandom. It'll be interesting to see what comes up next.

I wrote a sentence last night with 64 words and no commas. Heh.
