Hot damn, I love this "Classic Alternative" music channel, even though this particular song is reminding me just how much I miss ska. (A lot.)
2009 fic year in review later today, probably.

One. A transporter/wormhole/Floo powder so everyone who responded to my last meme could come visit and do what they wanted. Except the carpet-cleaning thing. I'd hire someone in for that.
Two. To move forward instead of metaphorically going around in little circles until I get dizzy and exhausted and collapse, having accomplished nothing. That'd be great.
Three. For it not to be too cold tonight when we go out to eat pizza and see some holiday lights. And for said lights to be awesome.
Four. To thank
bironic for my Xmas present, which is shown here. The woman wearing it even looks a bit like me. She has prettier hair, though. As does
bironic, come to think of it.
Five. To thank my other friends for holiday wishes and gifts and love. Thank you. ♥

I've been thinking about Keirsey (Myers-Briggs) personality typing again.
Wilson and I are fellow Guardians, which goes quite some way to explaining why I'm so cross when he's dismissed and belittled.
House is over in the Rational group. Check out these quotes from some of his fellow Rationals! Awesome.
"I have taken all of knowledge for my province."
Francis Bacon
"Ideas do not have to be correct in order to be good; it's only necessary that, if they do fail, they do so in an interesting way."
Robert Rosen
( It is not enough to have a good mind; the main thing is to use it well. )
And one that speaks to me so much, I'm likely to put it on my profile:
"Error of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it."
Thomas Jefferson (Architect Rational)
[And this quote explains why I'm OK with people who don't like Wilson, if they don't like him because of his actual annoying qualities.]

I was trying to do the "Ten moments that choke you up every time" but now I'm too busy being choked up over the generous spirit of my f-list.

I am about to go out and do real-life fun things! On a Wednesday night! This is shocking.
Some people were especially awesome to me during my hiatus last night, and I would like to thank them profusely.
*thanks thanks thanks*
*hugs hugs hugs*
C.S. Lewis said, "Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: 'What! You too? Thought I was the only one.'"
While those words haven't left my lips (or fingertips), the thought has been there with each of the good friends I've made on LJ, and it is truly a blessing.

Bammel? Sabine? Spoggly? Namaste?
queenzulu makes a compelling case for a House-AU of mine being anti-feminist here. It's very thought-provoking. Anything you'd be interested to add? I'd love to hear more analysis and opinions.
Please note that this is critical analysis of text/writing, not of me as a person. There is implication throughout the commentary about an author's responsibility for the end product of a work, which is an important idea that needs to be considered.

Apologies for those who saw it on HWLOL already, but this picture of RSL's baby daughter (from late March or early April) makes me smile.

Remember how Danny Wilson wrote How to Survive a Robot Uprising? Well, he wrote another book that sheds some light, perhaps, on how Wilson got to be the manipulator that he is:

LAYNE! LAYNE!
Matt Damon has signed up to play Liberace's lover in a biopic. Michael Douglas will play Liberace, and has reportedly told Matt to "bring your Chapstick."
One article here.

To the person who needs to read this:
I know you're a good person inside. I just wish you'd act like it.

I have found out the real-life identity of the infamous ! I don't normally put such information on LJ, for just anyone to read, but YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW.
' real-life name is:
James Lee Burke

"Her" latest novel, Rain Gods, is proof positive. "... a pitched battle between gangs of displaced bad guys, fighting among themselves for the new territory against the outmatched locals.
Some of these boldly drawn newcomers ... are living like "colonials in their own country". Others are stuck in hellholes like Chapala Crossing, a rusty-dusty town on the Mexican border that takes its visual definition from an abandoned filling station and a crumbling church.
( Hackberry Holland, the tall, taciturn sheriff )
More evidence here.

Last Days of Disco DVD re-release with additional commentary by the director, Chloe Sevigny, and Chris Eigeman.
- Chris Eigeman! I love to hear him talk. The topics, and the delivery -- awesome. Not as much of him in this movie as in "Barcelona," but EEEEEE for him doing commentary.
- Anyone who enjoys the "Wilson is a dick who preys on women"falsehood interpretation of his character MUST watch this movie, and marvel in Tom. MUST.
- Chloe Sevigny actually did not bug me in this movie!
- Nor did Kate Beckinsale, although her character was repellent to me. She was fun to hate.
- At 1:27 in the vid on the page above, RSL does the lip-bite = dimple thing! Cute.
- OMG, Albie from "Big Love" is in this! I totally forgot that was him. What a tangled little knot of actors.

In the "re-write of canon with Wilson as a woman" fic that I'm never going to write, I've decided Wilson's first name is Mary. House generally calls her Wilson, but when he's feeling particularly grumpy/vicious toward her, he calls her Maggie.
I haven't forgotten about the several fics I still owe for the RSL and HL Birthday Drives, I swear. It's just been a fallow period for writing lately, which you may have noticed. Last fic/ficlet put up: June 11. Last fic over 1000 words: May 10. Last fic over 2000 words: April 4. : ( I did manage to finish Remix, and that will go up (anonymously) this Sunday. But that's it. Ah well.

I'm actually hanging around LJ/email tonight, so stop by and say hi, if you wanna.

What's the name of the seam that joins the frontal bone to the pareital bone in the cranium?
Anybody want to make House-related icons for Remix/Redux 7? The text should be "Remix/Redux 7: Do you feel lucky?" (with or without the colon) and the picture should be of any of the House crew with weapons/preparing to do battle. The screencap I remember best is House holding up the gun in the morgue, but a hands-on-hips exasperated Wilson might work.

Had a wonderful vacation and am glad to be home.
Still not writing, which is frustrating. Have spottily read the f-list; will probably not read everything; snubs not intentional; comment or email if you want my attention on something in particular.
No clue why have adopted telegraph style.
Stop.

1. Got my Remix assignment. I am nervous.
Remix author, my fic list is here. I feel the need to apologize for how extensive it is. I've tried to help everyone get through it, though, by sorting it into sections. If you don't care for slash, House-Wilson friendship and "Other," which includes gen, are down near the bottom. Indvidiual fics that aren't eligible for Remix are labeled. Have fun!
2. ( Wilson helps out Jack Bauer )

Anybody seen any pics of a guy (good-looking, preferrably) wearing a garter belt? Prefer not full drag, just a guy in a garter belt (and stockings, preferably).
